Support

How can we help?

Email support.playorigins@gmail.com about anything: a bug, a question with a wrong answer, a player causing trouble, or your data. A real person reads every message.

Playing

When does the daily challenge reset?

At midnight where you are. Everyone gets the same five questions on the same date, and the leaderboard ranks everyone who played that date.

How is a round scored?

By how close your guess is and how quickly you answered. The exact country scores the most. Leaving the app during a round forfeits that round, so nobody can pause to look up the answer.

How do duels work?

A duel is best of three games of five questions. Challenge a friend by their username, or send them an invite link from the Duels screen. Invite links last 14 days and work once.

Your account

How do I change my username?

Open your Profile and tap Profile & Settings. Usernames are 3 to 20 letters, numbers or underscores. Offensive names, and names that pretend to be ORIGINS staff, aren't allowed.

I got a new phone. Can I keep my progress?

There's no email or password in ORIGINS, so your account lives on your phone. It moves to a new iPhone if you restore from an encrypted iCloud or computer backup. If you set up the new phone as new, your old progress can't be linked to it.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Profile, open Profile & Settings, and under Safety and privacy tap Delete account. Your account and everything linked to it is deleted from our servers and your phone straight away. See the privacy policy for exactly what that covers.

Safety

How do I report or block another player?

We review every report. Blocking works straight away: neither of you can challenge the other, duels between you are removed, and you stop seeing them on the leaderboard. They aren't told. You can unblock someone from Profile, under Profile & Settings.

If someone is in danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Notifications

ORIGINS asks to send notifications the first time you challenge someone, so it can tell you when it's your move. They are only ever about your duels: a challenge, your move, a nudge, or a result. Turn them off at any time from Profile, under Profile & Settings, or in your phone's Settings.

Question photos come from Wikimedia Commons. Each photo's photographer and license are shown under it in the game. Once you've answered, tap the credit to see the photo's page and full license.
